My fingernails are like paper and have vertical ripples, probably due to my thyroid condition. I have managed to grow them out a bit a couple of times, but they get chipped from the strings or they tear. As they get longer, they simply bend. What do you use to keep your nails strong? I have tried a few things, but to no avail. My current strategy is to put some hoof repair cream on them daily. Really. And I don't even own a horse!

Filing and buffing as much as possible helps me. I tend to moisturise rather than harden but I wonder if yours are too soft for that approach?
I really wear down my index nail strumming and sometimes have to use a pick that fits over my finger while it grows out. I don't love the sound but it gives my nail a chance to grow out. My thumb nail is problematic for me. It has a permanent split so picking is hard with the thumb. I'm experimenting with an adjustable thumbpick. I take biotin daily in hopes that helps my nails be stronger. Not sure this info is helpful.
