Aloha
I will be purchasing a new concert uke (I currently have a high G concert and tenor). I have been playing for 2 years and wondering if I should go low G on this new concert. I consider myself advanced beginner/intermediate depending on the “Skill”. Am concerned that a low G would be a challenge for me to learn how to play at this point. Open to everyone’s thoughts😊.
Thank you
Definitely go for it. Worth having at least one uke with a low G - I have it on a tenor. Its great for alternate bass style country picking and strumming. Chords are the same as for concert or soprano and gives you a few extra lower scale notes for sime bass runs. And if you're in a Uke group, the low bass adds a lovely complimentary sound effect.
Go for it! I think everyone should have at least one low G uke. It shouldn’t need much new learning as the notes are the same (just an octave lower). It opens you up to lots more arrangements too like Jeff’s excellent low G classical book. I might do a video about this next week. :)
