LIVE LESSON: 12th Street Rag - Mastering the split strum

Writer's picture: Matt SteadMatt Stead

For this lesson we’re going to concentrate on a specific and very fun technique; the split strum. Used by all kinds of artists from Hawaiian music, through jazz and even George Formby, this technique sounds incredible on the ukulele. I’ll break down the technique in detail and show you how to add variations to create really cool effects. We’ll apply is all to the fabulous 12th Street Rag.
