I also have issues with videos loading on my iPad. Found that using Chrome browser (rather than Safari) solves the problem. Perhaps worth a try?

I have a Flight Diana tenor, very pleased with it. Been using for around 3 years. It has the added sound amplifier built in, so useful when playing outdoor gig, I can boost the sound a little more!

Hi Gary.. also a Uma Moon Tenor and working my way through fingerpicking course, mixing it up in practice with some strumming songs I like though!

When I started on my uke journey, I too, found strumming difficult. What pattern should I use, etc. As Matt often mentions, its best to listen to a songs tempo and try and get the rhythm from that. I often tap my hand to the beat when listening to the song, to try and get some feel of the beat, so I can then transfer that beat to a strum. Easy for me to say and I'm no expert! But that's just my method 😉

Welcome! I’m also from the Midlands, UK 🙂….. it’s very tempting to move into other teaching vids on here (I’m guilty of that! 😂), but I also go over videos more than once (perhaps after trying something different for a while) and find it often sinks in better (for me) that way. Happy strumming! 🎶

Barbara - as I'm travelling by car, I can bring a spare music stand to the Retreat which you could borrow (I have one for my tablet, which I tend to use indoors and a more sturdy one for outdoor use) - I also have a small table-top music stand. It's my first time there, but I'm sure there will be others that can help share 😉

Hello all, I live in England (Midlands area) and have been playing for around 4 years. Like many others, I tried many different uke teachers on YouTube and often found myself going down a 'rabbit hole' and never really learning anything. I can honestly say, since finding Matt around 12 months ago, I rarely look at other teachers, having found Matt's teaching so inclusive, right from basic strumming to adding all sorts of embellishments! I'm an enthusiastic amateur and have joined 3 different uke classes in my area, with the largest having over 60 members - it's great fun and I have made many new friends in taking up this fascinating instrument. I look forward to learning a lot more from Matt and all of you! 🤗
