Here’s a bit about me, Matt Stead
I’ve taught ukulele to literally thousands of students around the world in person and on Social Media. I have been teaching for over 20 years and have amassing a wealth of knowledge on how to teach you ukulele while having fun doing it.

One of the things that differentiates me from from the ukulele teaching crowd is that I teach you how to spice up your songs and “make them yours”. Lessons are not dumbed down to the point that you!re forever stuck parroting someone else’s versions of songs.

My Ukulele Teaching Approach
My approach to teaching ukulele is somewhat unorthodox, but extremely effective.
​
While there are many techniques for playing the ukulele I say—lets bend some rules to jump start your ukulele journey. For example, many beginners get tangled up on strum patterns. Unfortunately, frustration over strum patterns has caused many people to quickly loose interest in playing their ukulele before barely getting started.
​
But what if you could side step complex strum patterns and just start playing and having fun? Well, you can as I teach in DO NOT LEARN STRUM PATTERNS in my Beginner Ukulele Course. This easy lesson alone can rocket beginners from copy cats to creative ukulele players.

I’m also a published author of ukulele arrangements and books. My compositions are feature in the Internationally recognized LCM Ukulele Grades and i’ve published books including Jazz Standards For Ukulele and The Ukulele Reference Book.

I’m proud to be the Musical Director of the London Youth Ukulele Orchestra, I’ve has also taught and performed at some of the biggest Ukulele Festivals and had my music played on National Radio.

Performances
One of my loves is composing songs to play on the ukulele and playing with others. It puts me in the zone and gives me an opportunity to unleash my creativity. I’m happy to share my songs with you.
