Hi I’m Kate and have just joined the group. I am an intermediate level player but I’m considering taking the beginner course to possibly undo any bad habits I have picked up over the last few years. I noticed that Matt strums with the soft pad of his thumb and I have always used the outside of my fingers. I have a few ukes, mainly Concert size and one soprano.

Welcome Kate, you've come yo one of the best Uke resources around, run by a great teacher. Lots of great stuff to discover, learn and enjoy👍
Hi Catherine, welcome! It’s definitely worth going through the beginners course even if just quickly to double check positioning etc.
Hi Kate. Welcome! I joined a few weeks ago. I'm working my way through Matt's beginner course, despite having played for a few years now, and having some intermediate level skills - I knew I still needed to improve in lots of beginner level stuff. I'm finding the course to be very helpful.
Welcome Kate... well worth working through Matt's beginner course. Lots of helpful info there, even if you've been playing for a while. Matt's Facebook group really useful too.
Hi Kate, we are the newbies then! I have carried over some bad habits from my 50 years of untrained guitar playing. I always play “thumb over”, which I find useful on guitar for damping the E string. I don’t think I can change now, but, so far, it’s not a problem for my uke playing.
I started on the intermediate course and whilst some of the content is a bit easy, there is always something useful in each lesson. The triplet lesson is really useful.
